A pause for reflection

I listen to a lot of music. I’m talking a lot about music. I really prefer to stay alone in a dark room listening to awesome tunes rather than going out til 4am in the morning (unless there is a special occasion).

I decided to add some music here. I’m gonna update this every now and then, and I’m gonna tweet it (official hashtag #apauseforreflection) so you can come in here only where there is some new music.

Not gonna say what I think about the music, because actually I hate reviews. Listen to it, and elaborate your own review.

I’m gonna put only the artwork and if you click on it you can use spotify to directly listen to the album. When there is no spotify link, I’m gonna link something related to the album anyway. If you hover over the artwork, you can see the name of the artist and the title of the album in this format: nameoftheartist || albumtitle.

      Hey Don,
thanks for stopping by! I’m always listening to NIN! This is just some new (and not so new) music I’m listening and discovering these days!

Love this idea! Will definitely check some out as it looks like there are a lot of artists on here I have not heard before.

I have to say, I also dislike reviews in the traditional sense. I listen to quite a lot of stuff that is off the beaten (mainstream) track and quite often the reviews for stuff that I love are quite negative.

A recent example of this is the blues album Memphis Blues by Cyndi Lauper that I only recently discovered. I absolutely loved it but if I had taken notice of the general public consensus I might never have even listened to it.

I think part of the negative feedback that such a well established artist attracts is that fans get attached to a particular era of the band’s sound and don’t like it when they evolve. I have heard this expressed many times. Michael Stipe and Mark Everett (Mr E) are two notable examples for me)

What I do love though are personal recommendations from friends. @ismepete is particularly good when it comes to this.

Anyway, I am going way off on a tangent here so will go listen to some tunes!

Great selection and great idea, Alessio!
I’ve just discovered your website and I’m totally digging it…

Like you did in the past, I’m going to move to Berlin in mid-April 2013 after my graduation in Economics…
I was looking for some reflections and some good advices about moving to Berlin and also about social marketing and in your website I’ve found “due piccioni con una fava”! ahaha
