Meet your SEO: Ian Howells

Welcome to another episode of “Meet your SEO“, dear madeyskizzers (ok, now this sounds weird)! Once again I would like to thank you for reading this series and for all the nice words you are saying to me on twitter, and especially for all the gifts and money you are sending me here in Berlin.

Since last week, I started to send to all the people I interviewed a little “present”. So, everyone who is going to participate on this series will receive a custom photo of my noble italian beauty with an SEO tip. Some SEOs decided to publish it, some didn’t….so you might see it or not, and that’s the awesome part of this project.

OK, back to us. Who is gonna be the awesome SEO today? Ian Howells. Ian is SEO director at TrueAction and he is talking about a lot of nice SEO stuff in his blog called Halo18.

I had a first contact with Ian few months ago, when I did the SEOmusic post, and I immediately knew he was someone to follow since he is a fan of Amon Tobin and Nine Inch Nails. I mean, you really need something else to follow a person?

Anyway, I had the pleasure to interview him, and here you can find all the answers. Ready to be “more electronic, less guitars”?

Meet your SEO: Joel Klettke

Hello, and welcome to another episode of “Meet your SEO“. I had 7 interviews til now, and this amazing SEO is going to be number 8th. It’s not matter of numbers, it’s just matter of quality, and you can FEEL the quality, reading all the interviews.

I mean, everyone is saying: create great content and you’re done. Well, I didn’t even create it, because the amazing SEOs are the real protagonists here, and I am totally amazed by the success of the series so far. I have a lot of interviews to publish yet, and I’m waiting for some answers as well. I’m trying , many people are not even considering participate on this, but I don’t mind. I mean, I’m having fun and I know lot of you are, too. So, who is going to be next?

Ladies and gentlemen, I’m glad to introduce Joel Klettke. Joel is an SEO specialist at Vovia Marketing and I have to say he is one of the funniest SEO guys out there. He is Canadian, and many of you maybe don’t know , but he is the best looking man in the world. He writes amazing review on Yelp, he talks about stuff trying to change this fucked up world, and his tweets are extremely funny.

Let’s start, ok? Here is a photo of Joel surfing. I’ve been told he is able to do SEO and surfing at the same time. Amazing right? I know.

Let’s surf!

Meet your SEO: Julie Joyce

Oh boy. Julie Joyce, ladies and gentlemen. I mean, I don’t even know where to start introducing her for two reasons: a) she doesn’t need any introduction. b) she is one of the greatest SEO and person I met unfortunately only via twitter, so I have a special place for her in my heart and blog.

OK. Enough with mawkishness (I learnt a new english word here). Julie Joyce is the owner of the link building company Link Fish Media and she is a proud member of SEO Chicks.

Moreover, Julie has a great taste in music and I know she likes to drink even Italian cocktails (by the way, did you tried to make the “spritz”? 🙂 ).

Ready to listen to what she has to say to all of you ? All right, Julie… give us some of your magic.

The Fragile – an SEO perspective

SEO is resistence

It’s been a year since I became an SEO. I was a molecular biologist before (or at least this is what was written in my masters degree) and so I can tell you I was completely new to the world of search engine optimization.

I have to confess that when I was first contacted for the job, immediately after the call, I went to wikipedia (I know, lame) to read something about SEO, so that I could at least understand what this acronym meant.

These days I receive a lot of requests from people who read some interviews I did for Italian sites (I’m Italian, don’t you see the style in the photo?), asking me how I became an SEO manager, since my background was totally different.

Once again, I’m using a Nine Inch Nails’ album “The Fragile” (my favorite) to explain a bit what I learned in this year. After this, I will be writing some stuff (some rants or funny stuff) and carry on the amazing “Meet your SEO” interview series. I started to do some guest posting, and  I wanna say thank to everyone who asked me (you know who you are, even because you are 3 people) but I’m gonna stop because there is already too much saturation on the SEO world and I realize I’m not adding anything new or groundbreaking to the SEO community. So, it’s better for me to shut the fuck up and do something.
