I noticed this tweet by Samuel Crocker :

I replied to him saying that “delivery supported by humility” was gonna be my leitmotif of the day.
Well, this makes me think. I am new on the SEO world, so I cannot talk too much but I think that “humility” as a positive way of thinking and acting is lacking in a lot of cases (or should I say people?).
Then Julie Joyce wrote:

And she’s true. And I know this.
People tend to think that humility means stupidity, and it’s not. When somehow you lack in humility, there is a process already started in you that is making you an asshole. I said a lot of times, I don’t even like when someone is calling a person an expert, or even worse, then people are saying : “I’m an expert”. I don’t wanna be an expert, NEVER, because it means you stop listening to other people, you don’t have that kind of magic of discovering things anymore. And that’s sad.
A lot of SEOs are taking things too serious. And sometimes this is making me think: is it worthy? Really, people not talking to you because “you’re not one of the well-known SEOs”. Yeah, sure, but if you don’t help me understand SEO , how can I improve my skills? Are you jealous of something?
It’s something I was thinking a lot lately. I just wanna say that being humble does NOT mean being dumb.
Fortunately, SEOs is a really wide world, with a lot of cool people who are helping me a lot , even joking a bit about things. Best people I know in SEO are the ones skilled enough to be considered “experts” but smart enough to be humble and spread SEO knowledge without fighting to have a reply back in twitter from one of the big guys. But they do things because they like SEO.
Ok, that’s it. This is want to be a big “thank you” to the amazing SEOs out there. Not experts, but always improving. And this is a lot better, in my eyes.
This post was written listening to Alva Noto’s “Univrs”.
