Meet your marketer: Chris Gilchrist

WHHHAAAAAAAATTTT??

A new episode of “Meet your marketer”? Hell yeah, my dear reader. First of all, thank you SO MUCH for having click that link on twitter, facebook, linkedin or Google+, and thanks SO MUCH for spending some time here in my blog.

So today I have the pleasure to chat a bit with Chris Gilchrist, MD & Founder of Hit Reach. Chris is also SEO, WordPress expert and really passionate about tattoos.  Chris is totally a nice guy, always ready to help you out and to chat about SEO and other interests on twitter.

Chris Gilchrist

I’m so loving this interview for one reason: because I’m asking things that really matter to me, and it’s not so much SEO related. I mean, we all know that usually people I interviewed are amazing SEOs, right? So, let’s get to know these professionals a bit more, as human beings and not only for their technical skills.

So, ready to know Chris a bit more? Let’s go!

The Diabetic Journal : do something, now!

Quick post.

I funded with a small amount of money the project called The Diabetic Journal on Kickstarter (thanks Swissmiss for the heads up!).

The guy working on it (called Nial Giacomelli) describes it as “An intelligent diabetic journal application for iPhone + iPod that tracks your blood glucose levels, meals, activities and medication“.

I received just to day an update, and it looks amazing:

The Diabetic Journal

I know some people and friend who have diabetes , and I truly think that the whole world of pharmaceutical companies is so FUCKED UP that people are not allowed to have REAL solutions. The developer is saying this in the update too, saying he tried to contact some organizations just to promote his app (not money required, just a link) but they answered they are not ready to share the thing because of “competing interests”.

Why you should stop something like this? Why are you SO afraid?

I mean, we have the iphones, ipods, and whatever…and for once we can use them for STUFF THAT MATTERS rather than just to take pictures of cats and of what you eat, or to share facebook updates and stupid tweets.

I really hope this guy is gonna make it, and I’m so proud of being part of this project. I think all people who cares enough for the other should donate a small amount of money (1$ is ok too!).

Let’s turn the devices we use every day in something useful. Let’s help people who need this to have this app (that is going to be always for free!) up and running. It looks even amazing, rather than the crappy stuff pharma companies are giving to us.

Do something, now! We can change the world, even if we are not diabetics. Let’s stand up and fight for something!

Air Berlin: 7 ideas for you (and more)

Everyone tends to go home for Christmas. You can stay away during Easter, or during birthdays, or during summer…but for Christmas, hell no!

I spent Christmas 2011 in Berlin, but for Christmas 2012 I said: let’s go to see some friends and parents in Italy, and let’s do it with Air Berlin.

The plan was really simple: fly from Berlin to Venice on December 23th, and then back on December 30th. Simple uh? Read on!

My flight to Venice was on December 23th, from Berlin Tegel at 4.55pm with Air Berlin AB8990. I arrived to the airport 2 hours before the departure (yeah, I know, no need to, but I feel kinda safe this way), and immediately I did the check-in procedure, leaving my bags and passing through metal detectors. All good. Excited to go home!

I was with my girlfriend Giulia waiting for our flights like 1 hour before the departure time, spending time reading and walking around, since Berlin Tegel is a really boring airport. Around 4.30pm (20 minutes before departure), I was checking the timetable when I saw a terrible thing: MY FLIGHT WAS CANCELLED.

Now, you can say: “It can happen, nothing new here”. Yeah, you are right. That morning there was even a bit of snow and maybe ice, but other flights were still on time and departing from the airport.

So, the first reaction was: WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?

Best way to complain is to make things

We arrived at the end of the 2012. WHAT A FUCKIN YEAR!

I worked as SEO for Zalando, taking care first of the italian market, then of the nordics, and at the end of the southern region (France, Spain, Italy). I worked with awesome people, I met some jerks, I had the honor to discover some real geniuses. I lived with my amazing Giulia, in Berlin (Germany), and we changed house, neighborhood, friends. It was a really intense year, and I think I’m tired enough I need a break from the city and from the every day life.

My blog: it was really cool to interview a lot of people, to talk to many SEOs and marketers in general. I don’t know if I’m going to keep doing interviews in the next year, I didn’t planned this yet. I would like to write more, but just because I like to raise the voice when I’m seeing things that are broken.

Nope, as visitors, my blog did not go up that much, but that’s ok I suppose, since my effort on it is really small, since I have other priorities, like reading, listening to a lot of music, do real stuff (or at least try). Of course even in 2012, music was a BIG part of my life.

Ok, so, here some considerations, with the help of some lyrics taken by the album “With Teeth” by NIN.
