Meet your marketer: Barry Adams

hey readers, how’s life treating you?

I hope it’s all good! On my side, everything is good, thank you! The life is awesome especially when you discover that your Canadian dentist in Berlin is listening to some 2000s disco music when it’s operating with a microscope! great right? I think so yeah, because I felt less pain thinking that a tooth pain is nothing compared to the awful 2000s disco music.

Today I have the pleasure to talk with Barry Adams, chief SEO at Polemic Digital . Barry defines himself as “SEO polemicist” and I have to say that I started to follow Barry on twitter because he is always on the line to generate some healthy discussions about SEO, marketing, and visions in general. I like a lot when people argue with a clear mind, and I have to say I disagreed more than one time with Barry, but he is always there ready to accept it and to discuss in a very polite way (well, most of the time).

Ok, let’s begin this journey!

Meet your marketer: Gabriella Sannino

Few days ago I wrote a post about why I stopped the “Meet your SEO” series. I didn’t even imagine to have a strong reaction from community. People commented the post, wrote me on twitter, chats, wrote some stuff on Inbound.

The amazing stuff is I learnt that people do care about this project, and honestly I want to thank you all very much for your support.

I stick with the message in that post (sorry Glen), but as I said in various comments it’s not that I will stop the series FOREVER, but I’m gonna stop it as it was in the past. I would like to interview people I do care about, and who cares, in a way, about me and the project. I mean, people worth listening to.

So today I have the pleasure to talk with Gabriella Sannino, international organic SEO content strategist (as she defined herself on twitter) and owner of Level343, an american SEO and copywriting company. Gabriella is an italian SEO living and working in the US since many years. She is one of the first SEO I started to follow when I enter the SEO world myself, and I liked a lot her approach, when she asked her followers to say “hello” otherwise…what’s the point of following someone without interactions? WINNER. 🙂

OK, enough talking. Meet your marketer is up and running, and I hope you like this interview and enjoy the whole series!

Trent Reznor: Q&A from Reddit

On november 13th, 2012 Trent Reznor answered few questions on Reddit. Reddit is a great platform, but if you want to read right away questions and answers, it could be a little bit messy. On the same day, a new EP called “An Omen” by How To Destroy Angels came out, as well as a track by the man himself for “Call of Duty : Black Ops II” soundtrack.

I decided to just collect the answers Trent Reznor gave in this post. He said a few things really interesting in my opinion, and since I really respect Reznor and all his works, I want to share with you. You can find the original and complete Reddit session here if you want (there are tons of stupid questions over there…it seems like people miss the opportunity to talk with their hero just for the sake of it).

Request for all SEOs out there (including me)

I happened to see this tweet. I know Giulia, and now she is a full time marketer at Macmillian Education.

Here you can see my answer too.

BUT, I understand perfectly what she is saying.

SEO community tends to be too close sometimes. SEOs talk about SEO and related stuff in a way only they can understand.

The real challenge here is to let people understand what we are doing, in simple words. It reminds me when I was a molecular biologist. How to explain science to common people? It’s a pity that all the cool stuff scientists are doing are not practically sharable with people, students, kids, parents…

SEO is the same. First of all it would be great to talk only about experiences in order to let people understand if it’s something they can use for their situation. Then, we should be able to explain it in simple words, not so nerdy. Third, please let’s do some cool presentations (too many times I was at conferences , workshops… and I was like…oh my! really?).

SEO is an amazing discipline everyone should understand it and enjoy it. So let’s begin!
