Fuck Facebook

better

DISCLAIMER: I reopened Facebook for a while, but in october 2013 I decided to close it again. In this post I wrote some thoughts I had, and part of them remains the same. New things could be added, but actually it’s not worth it. I decided to close it again because I don’t get the point. I really tried, but I don’t get it. I’m a twitter heavy user and I find it more useful and fun. For people complaining that could be my fault because I’ m not able to use it, COULD BE. But Facebook is a tool , and I don’t want to think how to maximize its use. It was a personal profile with some stupid shit on it. I’m not a brand or something, so without too much thoughts, I closed it again. Plus I saw bad things coming out from Facebook, things I don’t and won’t understand to not lose faith in people.

You can find me on twitter or you know…..in the real life (maybe at a NIN + QOTSA + Foo Fighters concert while drinking a Corona). Avoir, adieu, goodnight.

here the original post:

I closed Facebook a week ago.

What a relief. I had only people complaining about stuff in there, and I had even a lot of “friends” that actually I don’t even know the real name in the real life.

People were sending stupid request like “add my birthday to your calendar” . You know what? I don’t even know your name, why should I remember your birthday? and even if I do add it, is it really important for you? I wanna know because at this point you have problems. Mental ones.

When did you enter the SEO world, and why ?

I was drawn to SEO primarily as I see the internet as the future of all commerce and want to develop my own businesses online. Secondly because I am so passionate about the impact the internet has had on society. I see the internet as the second most important event in history (the first being the invention of the printing press by Guttenberg) and has radically changed the world with the mass distribution of information. I want to be involved in the digital revolution and see SEO being an essential part of shaping the internet. We are living in exciting times.

Meet your SEO: Chris Dyson

Today I have the pleasure to talk with Chris Dyson, director of the SEO company Roots Web Solutions based in Leeds, UK. So, have fun with another episode of “Meet your SEO” series.

When did you enter the SEO world, and why ?

I guess like most people it’s something I fell into. I’d helped family and friends set up websites since about 2001. Around the start of 2006 I set up a music blog using WordPress and started learning SEO. I managed to rank my blog for several high traffic terms so I set up another and another. Before I knew it I was making more money online than offline with affiliate offers and adsense. In the middle of 2008 I was made redundant from work, so, I started to help others make money online too. Last year I sold most of my sites and dedicated more time to providing SEO services to local businesses.

A great tip about onpage optimization?

Use a unique Title for every page!! It’s so damn easy. The amount of times I start a site audit and the same title and meta description is on every single bloody page is ridiculous.

So, yeah, wannabe web designers and developers make sure every page has a unique title. Oh, and, while I’m at it please stop putting the website logo in <h1> tags.

Thanks xxx
